About Alabama:

Alabama is one of the most iconic and influential bands in the history of country music. Formed in Fort Payne, Alabama, in 1969, the group originally consisted of Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Teddy Gentry (bass, vocals), and Jeff Cook (lead guitar, fiddle, keyboards, vocals). Combining traditional country with Southern rock and gospel influences, Alabama helped transform country music in the 1980s and brought it into the mainstream like never before.

The band’s big breakthrough came with their 1980 hit “Tennessee River,” which launched a remarkable run of over 40 No. 1 singles, including “Mountain Music,” “Dixieland Delight,” “Song of the South,” and “If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band).” Their tight harmonies, catchy melodies, and relatable lyrics made them favorites on both country radio and arena stages across the country.

Over their legendary career, Alabama has sold more than 75 million records, won multiple CMA, ACM, and Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Despite lineup changes and the loss of founding member Jeff Cook in 2022, the band’s legacy endures as pioneers who paved the way for modern country bands and redefined what it meant to be a country music superstar.

With their roots still planted deep in family, faith, and Southern pride, Alabama remains a symbol of lasting impact and musical excellence in American country music.
