About Chris Young:

Chris Young, known for his rich baritone and traditional country roots, rose quickly from reality TV star to established country music artist. Born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, he grew up surrounded by music—his grandfather, Richard Yates, was a performer on the famous Louisiana Hayride. Young began singing in children’s theater and started playing clubs around Nashville while still in high school.

In 2006, Young’s big break came when he won Season 4 of Nashville Star, earning a recording contract with RCA Records. That same year, he released his self-titled debut album, which included the single “Drinkin’ Me Lonely.” Though it made an impact, it wasn’t until his 2009 album The Man I Want to Be that Young truly broke through, with the hit single “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)” marking his first No. 1 on the country charts.

Young continued his climb with a string of successful singles like “Voices,” “Tomorrow,” and “You,” combining smooth vocals with emotional storytelling. His 2011 album Neon featured several hits, including the platinum-certified “Tomorrow,” which crossed over onto the pop charts. With each album, Young balanced contemporary country sounds with traditional influences.

In 2013, Young released A.M., a brighter and more upbeat album featuring party anthems and heartfelt ballads alike. The single “Aw Naw” showcased his ability to bring energy to country radio, while other tracks like “Who I Am with You” and “Lonely Eyes” continued to perform well on the charts.

His fifth studio album, I’m Comin’ Over (2015), produced more chart-topping hits, including the title track and the duet “Think of You” with Cassadee Pope. He followed this with Losing Sleep in 2017 and holiday album It Must Be Christmas in 2016, cementing his versatility and consistent output.

In 2017, Young was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, a landmark achievement recognizing his impact on country music. He has continued releasing music into the 2020s, including the hit single “Famous Friends” with Kane Brown, proving that his star continues to shine brightly in Nashville and beyond.
